Gaza’s health sector losses enormous — official
GAZA, Jan 22 (KUNA) — Losses of the health sector during the Israeli war in Gaza Strip were very enormous, particularly after Israeli war planes completely destroying several hospitals, in addition to care centers and medical warehouses around the city, said Health Minister of the ousted Hamas-led government Bassem Naiem on Thursday.
In a press conference, he said that Israel also targeted medical staff which resulted in the killing of 13 doctors and 24 first aid personnel, including 11 ambulances, adding that there are 2000 Palestinians who had medium to severe injuries.
Meanwhile, the minister also praised Arab medical support and efforts, noting as well the arrival of 250 medics from the Arab world, among them surgeons, first aid personnel who also provided medical supplies and equipments.
Naiem also condemned Israeli targeting of rescue and medical crews and the military’s use of internationally prohibited weapons.
The minister called on “human rights institutions to uphold the Israeli leaders for an international tribunal” and called on Arab and Islamic states to increase technical and human support, “because the large number of casualties and devastation.”
The Palestinian official also revealed that a number of journalists received threats and warnings from Israel if they continue conveying Israeli war crimes in Gaza.
