Kuwait: Awqaf Ministry will aid deaf center
KUWAIT: Head of Islamic Research at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, Mohammed Al-Omar, recently said that his department upheld the importance of helping those with special needs. This, he said, stemmed from Islamic teachings, which maintain that those in need of help should be aided in whatever ways possible.
Al-Omar made his comments during a speech he delivered at the inauguration of the first annual assembly for the Jenan Center for the Deaf, which was held under the title “Creative Mutes.” He said the center could serve as an avenue to raise Islamic awareness among citizens by helping those in need. He also discussed some of the activities that the center takes part in, including studying the Holy Quran, recitation and memorization.
Meanwhile, head of the Kuwait Center for the Deaf, Mansour Al-Harby, praised the cooperation between the ministry department and the center, which he said always results in productive activities. In addition, supervisor of cultural activities at the ministry, Musa Al-Aswad, said that Islam called on followers to treat those with special needs with care and respect, Al-Watan reported. The inauguration began with a religious lecture delivered by Sheikh Mishary Al-Kharraz, who talked about God’s mercy and forgiveness.
